Features

4 Reasons Why Developers Choose CuGo V4

FEATURE 01

IP65 Waterproofing for Outdoor Fields

Dust and water resistance rated IP65. Operates reliably even in sudden rain or wet environments. Mud and dirt can be washed off with water. Built for harsh outdoor conditions including agricultural robot trials, infrastructure inspection, and rescue training.

FEATURE 02

ROS2 Native Support
— SLAM & Nav2 Ready Out of the Box

The cugo_ros2_control2 package integrates instantly with the Navigation2 stack. The built-in encoders deliver high odometry accuracy, improving the precision of SLAM and AMCL-based localization. Verified on Ubuntu / ROS2 Humble.

FEATURE 03

Bogie Suspension for
Stable Off-Road Travel

Newly introduced bogie-type suspension, absent in V3. Suppresses body vibration on rough farmland, gravel roads, and uneven terrain, maintaining the image quality of onboard sensors and cameras. Max climbing angle of 20° and 9 cm step clearance are fully preserved.

Brushless DC Motor

FEATURE 04

Brushless DC Motors
— Long Life, High Torque, High Precision

Features Oriental Motor brushless DC motors (rated 100W/unit). Compared to the brushed motors in V3, torque is significantly increased with longer lifespan and lower maintenance requirements. Speed feedback control ensures stable, precise movement even under load or on slopes.

Case Studies

Use Cases

Adopted across diverse fields — from universities and technical colleges to research institutions and individual developers.

Tsukuba Challenge 2023 Outdoor Autonomous Navigation

CASE 01 Outdoor Autonomous Navigation / In-house Development

"Autonomous outdoor navigation by switching between GNSS and SLAM"

Developed outdoor autonomous navigation using the ROS package for CuGo V4. Generated maps via 2D LiDAR SLAM and achieved autonomous outdoor course navigation by switching between GNSS and AMCL. Enables rapid integration testing with the Navigation2 stack.

CuboRex In-house Development / Tsukuba Challenge 2023 Participant

Small Bridge Inspection Robot Infrastructure

CASE 02 Infrastructure Inspection / Corporate

"Waterproofing and terrain capability were the deciding factors for our infrastructure inspection deployment"

Adopted as the base platform for a small bridge inspection robot, valued for its IP65 waterproofing and high terrain capability via bogie suspension. Supports continuous operation in outdoor field environments.

Autonomous Navigation Field Test at Mandarin Orange Farm Semantic Segmentation

CASE 03 Agriculture / In-house Field Test

"Validated visual AI-based autonomous navigation on a terraced mandarin orange farm"

Conducted a field test using CuGo V4 at a partner farm (terraced field) in Shizuoka Prefecture. In addition to LiDAR-based mapping, an NVIDIA Jetson-powered visual AI performed semantic segmentation of "grass, trees, and rocks," confirming autonomous avoidance of non-traversable areas even on unlearned routes.
