FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Can it be attached to my own wheelbarrow? +
Yes, as long as the wheel width is 102mm or more (without brake) or 108mm or more (with brake set). Most commercially available wheelbarrows and carts meet this requirement, but we recommend measuring your wheel width beforehand to confirm. If your wheel meets the requirement, you can electrify it simply by replacing your existing tire with the E-cat kit2 tire — no need to purchase a new cart or wheelbarrow.
How long does installation take? +
Using common tools such as a hex wrench or adjustable wrench, installation typically takes about 30 to 60 minutes once you're familiar with the process. The procedure involves replacing the tire and attaching each component, and first-time users can follow the assembly guide step by step. For detailed instructions, please see the Assembly Guide on our support page.
Do I need to purchase the battery separately? +
Yes, the battery and charger are not included with the main unit and must be purchased separately. The product is compatible with HiKOKI lithium-ion multi-volt batteries (36V), with the BSL36B18X as the recommended model. If you already own HiKOKI power tools, you can share the same battery. For the full list of compatible batteries, please check this PDF.
How is this different from the Electric Wheelbarrow (assembled model)? Which one should I choose? +
E-cat kit2 (this product) is a "kit version" that attaches to your existing wheelbarrow or cart. Since you reuse your current equipment, you can keep initial costs down, but installation work is required.
The Electric Wheelbarrow (assembled model) arrives as a complete unit combining a domestically made wheelbarrow with the E-cat kit2. It's ready to use right out of the box, but requires purchasing a new wheelbarrow.
As a general guide: if you already have a wheelbarrow and want to save on cost → choose E-cat kit2. If you want to start using it right away or are unsure about installation → choose the assembled model. The assembled models come in two versions depending on use case: Electric Wheelbarrow (for Civil Engineering & Construction) and Aluminum Electric Wheelbarrow (for Agriculture).
What should I do in case of a breakdown or for maintenance? +
The product comes with a 1-year warranty from the date of purchase, and any confirmed manufacturing defects will be replaced free of charge. If you experience a malfunction or issue, please contact your point of purchase.
For routine maintenance, check all bolts for looseness before use, and if the unit is not used for more than a month, charge the battery about once a month. If a tire goes flat, it can be repaired by replacing the tube — the same method used for bicycle tubes — and can typically be done yourself. For details, please see the Repair & Maintenance Guide on our support page.
What is the maximum load capacity? +
The maximum load capacity is 100kg. Even with a 100kg load, it can climb slopes of up to 25 degrees, and travels at 4km/h on flat ground (6km/h when unloaded). With motor assistance, it significantly reduces the physical burden of transporting heavy materials such as ready-mix concrete, gravel, or construction supplies.
Can it be used outdoors or in the rain? +
Yes, it has IP54-equivalent (splash-proof) dust and water resistance, allowing continued outdoor use in light rain. However, avoid submerging the unit in water, using it in heavy rain, or cleaning it with a high-pressure washer, as these can cause damage. Wiping off any mud or moisture after use will help keep the unit in good condition for long-term use.
